Dániel Perlaky / Senior Art Director & Strategist

Born in Budapest, Dániel spent his childhood photographing with his father and being influenced by Swiss Modernism and Eastern European constructivist architecture. After the fall of the Berlin wall, Dániel’s family moved to San Francisco where he was heavily influenced by mutliculturalism and street art forms.

Dániel ended up at the University of Texas at Austin, graduating with a degree in Journalism and Visual Communication. He then gained experience at magazines, creative agencies, entertainment companies and arts organizations. For eight years, Dániel has worked with diverse arts, media, and non-profit clients, including KUT, United Way Capital Area and Marfa Film Festival. He’s also produced a feature-film, an arts and culture web-magazine and numerous events. His photographs and designs have been featured in a variety of galleries and publications and he regularly lectures at universities and conferences.

Dániel specializes in design, art direction, brand strategy, and multi-media communication for local, national and international clients. In his spare time, Dániel travels extensively throughout Europe and the Americas, finding inspiration in getting lost in world-class cities as well as in exploring natural landscapes through surfing and snowboarding excursions.

Favorite travel destination:
Barcelona for the art, culture, and food; Nicaragua for surfing beaches; Santa Fe for snowboarding, art, and food.

Place you’d like to travel next:
Costa Rica for surfing, Berlin and Melbourne for the culture or a trip circumnavigating the Mediterranean.

Something that’s always in your suitcase:
Moleskines, various cameras, a good book, hand sanitizer and a map.

Favorite word:
Saccharine

What gets your creativity pumping?
Travel. The act of getting from one place to another and finding out that it’s pleasantly different from what you expected and still gives you something to take with you forever. Also, studying the work of architects, artists, entrepreneurs, inventors and engineers.

If you weren’t working in advertising, what would you be doing?
I’d be washing the windows of high rises around the world and eating lunch 70 floors above the street. That, or I’d teach visual design and photography in a city on the beach in a foreign country.

Would you rather be able to fly or turn invisible?
Fly. Very few feelings could come close to flight – especially to be able to do it without any equipment and perfect it as an art.
